A new full carbon Alpitude Gardena saddle is the latest & most advanced component to come out of the ultralight carbon workshop of Italian bike builder Werking Cycles. Only a week ago, Alpitude launched the latest version of their super light out-front GPS mount with new camera bracket. Now they are back with a suitably light carbon saddle featuring modern fit & ergonomics and another place to mount a GoPro or similar accessories…
Alpitude Gardena ultralight carbon short fit road saddle
Alpitude’s latest creation is a full carbon road saddle tipping the scales at just 65g (+/-4%). Designed and produced entirely in their workshop in the Italian Dolomites, the Gardena saddle features a short 245mm long, gently curved profile & various widths for a modern fit for fast riding. The super light saddle gets no padding, instead relying on a stable base for your sit bones and a large pressure relief cut out for endurance comfort.
The Gardena is undoubtedly a lightweight road bike saddle, with a max rider weight of just 85kg/187lb. But if you do fall under the weight limit, they rate it for road, gravel & cross riding as well, just no mountain bike use.
The full carbon Gardena is available in three widths (128, 140 & 150mm) all sharing the same full-length cutout design. They all get oval 7x9mm carbon rails and are available in either a 3K twill woven top finish or unidirectional (UD) carbon.
Pricing & availability
The new Gardena saddle is in production right now, but Alpitude is taking pre-orders. The full carbon, made-in-Italy saddles sells for 250€ no matter the width or finish options.
A combo kit is available for 268€ that includes a 3D printed 2-tab GoPro style mount that bolts on to the rear cross member to offer a secure mounting point for an action cam or rear light (max accessory load of 250g.) Alpitude says pre-orders made by the beginning of next year will be shipped before the end of January 2020, all with free global delivery included.
